UNIFIED CREDIT

The "unified credit" allows you additionally to leave or give away up to $675,000 free of federal gift or estate taxes in your lifetime or upon your death. Under current law, with proper planning, up to $1.350 million of an estate of a married couple can pass to children federal estate-tax free.
